This came out the year I DID graduate from HS (LOL). If you look at the shaker hood badging I believe you can make out the 429 (not 427 or 428) which was also in the Thunderbird and I think It might have been used for the Sheby Mustang. Great year for cars (LOL).

And you're both way younger than me! I was a junior in high school that year...

I was 6 years old when this thing was new. Speaking of which, a milder version of this was our family car for most of my childhood. Ours was gold with a black vinyl top and a sort of golden tan shiny--almost metallic looking-vinyl interior of the type they put in cars back in those days. It had the 390 V8, automatic, air, the usual stuff. None of the "go-fast" graphics this one posses, and without the shaker hood. It was good all around car, and I learned how to drive in it. The only real problems were that it was always hungry and rusted like crazy. Still, we had it for almost ten years. This one appears to be some kind of hybrid I've never seen before. The blacked out hood would be on an "X L", but it lacks that car's fastback roof, and I've never seen one of these with the shaker scoop. Nice find, and a great shot!

It may be an old barge but I bet it could kick ass out on the road!
