Description
This smart hoverfly was tricky to photograph, but eventually settled on an Iris leaf in my pond

What a beautiful shot of this hover. Even the leaf is beautiful. Wonderful light in this too, Andrea :)
cool shot; love the shadows
Fabulous capture Andrea
Yep, they are are very fleeting creatures, but have the occasional quiet moment, that is when it is best to snap them in my experience, great shot, and thanks for the ident on what appears to be a vast species.
Very impressive close up !
This is a very beautiful picture, also with your post work on it, Andrea. Or am I wrong, and didn't you do any adjustments? (Yes, I have seen it in our garden too, and of course photographed. )
No postwork!
Spectacular image. How nice of it to sit for a portrait. I wonder if they have much trouble from people who mistake them for wasps.
Well done getting this shot, I know they don't rest for long and always seem to be in flight. Lovely colours.
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
Excellent capture.
Superb shot, what a beauty!
Fantastic,
Terrific POV, lighting, patterns, textures and shadows in this macro of the unpronounceable insect.
A wonderful photo, zoom to see the patterns along the edge of the long leaf and the wing details in the shadow!
