Description
Over the past several years I've posted pictures of the people in my family, so many of you will know who these folks are. From left to right are David, Brittany, and Trent.
Trent and David have been together for seventeen years, but had never married because it was against the law for them to do so. Washington State recently passed a Marriage Equality Bill, so yesterday they finally tied the knot!
Brittany was excited for this to happen, because she's always wanted "The Dads" to be married. She pretty much had this look on her face the whole day. :D
Trent and David were grinning from ear to ear all day as well. It was a wonderful occasion!

Congratulations! You may have told me about this before, but I didn't remember the specifics (dates, whereabouts), and if I forgot it's because of my forgetfulness these days, not because of the event! Congratulations to Trent and David, and to Washington for finally joining the growing list of states who've done what should've been done for years. I'm very happy for them both, and for everyone else that law welcomes. It's a great capture, they both look so happy, and you caught their beautiful tuxes, with the upright collar (an old style still in use, folded over the tie, and black tie too!), you caught the flower on both, the pleats, beautiful profiles, and Brittany's big glowing smile right between them, glowing for all the reasons you say and more. And her beautiful yellow necklace as a tie between them all. A beautiful portrait, beautifully cropped too; and great congratulations to them and to you as part of their family. And congratulations on 2500! That's a huge number, Tara! And so much quality packed into it too! Here's to another 2500 and more and more after that. A wonderful way to celebrate 2500 images---congratulations all around!

A heart warming shot, Tara & congratulations on your 2500th post - both for the quantity & the quality. Oregon has had a complex back & forth on same sex marriage, but last month a federal court ruled that a 10-year old constitutional amendment banning same sex marriages was unconstitutional & now same sex couples are free to marry in this state. And contrary to what narrow-minded bigots & haters have warned, it has not affected any heterosexual marriages & has not led to the collapse of our civilization...
LOL! I know ... my marriage is as stable as ever, and yours seems quite solid, as well! I'm not sure how we're supposed to have been adversely affected by all this. I don't feel any less married than I did before! :)

As my Polish grandmother would have said, "MAZEL TOV!" You mean to say that same sex marriage is legal in Washington and you're still allowed to be married to a man? Well, that doesn't sound right. After all our nation's greatest patriots PROMISED us that marriage would be destroyed. Hmm, what else are they wrong about? Yeah, I know, everything. Ok, rant over. What glorious news and a brilliant image to accompany the announcement. Such a happy trio. I hope it lasts forever. And 2,500? You must be exhausted. All this on the same day my Washington friend Gabriel finally popped to question to his girlfriend Heather. She said yes. Another one bites the dust. (:-D
I love this shot! It is so joyful. Really excellent. Wonderful composition and capture of the love and joy they feel. Great choice for your 2500! The times they are a-changin' and it is wonderful. There are even signs of change in Texas. I'm not holding my breath, but change will come, even here. On this issue in particular, I have faith in the younger generation.
