Description
Previously, the milkman came to the door, and poured milk into a measuring jug of 1 liter.
You could then buy how many liters you needed.
The milkman came by horse and wagon, and behind that car was kind of a tapping cock, he swung open.
The farmers brought their milk (yes, from their cows, huh?) in the milk cans to the milkman.
(or visa versa)

Mies, you make me go back more than 60 years ago ... I knew this dairy ... he had a big 'sleigh' drawn by four Percheron horses, and sometimes when two delivery crossed, depending on the sex of the horses sometimes ... I attended very noisy exchanges between horses ...
A wonderful image of times past and yes I too can remember collecting milk direct from the farm in cans. But then I am a Victorian !!!

I've got one of these, I bought from Brenda before she died.
Brings back memories, my dad used to deliver milk door to door, they used to sell it by the jug , he had a horse & cart. great shot.
