Excellent picture, buddy! Very excellent. I think I've mentioned that I live in Pennsylvania? Maybe an hour and a half from Gettysburg. If you ever have the chance to see that movie, "Gettysburg", the Turner Production version, it is a must see! Absolutely incredible. I think I've watched it twenty times. Man, those guys were made of iron. Always a pleasure to view your pictures!!!
Great photo. Again you bring us an artistically stirring photo of America as it is, not as ideologues think it should be. The more complex story told is the richer of the two, with all its glories and sorrows. That's as nice looking a resting place as anybody's likely to get. Somewhere in the sad gentle wind's rustle of those dry magnolia leaves, you can just barely make out Faulkner and Foote and Wolfe whispering together, with maybe a few words from that young whippersnapper Groom thrown in for good measure.
Beautiful and yet somber reminder when father fought against son and brother faced brother. may we never go through that again.

nothing can erase the cruelty of any war, much less a war called 'civil' but that was fratricide ... a moving series beginning, I suppose! beautiful photo!
At least this cemetery has a bit of grass, unlike the one you showed us with the bare earth

Beautiful shot, Jocko. We have a cemetery in Holly that has Civil War veterans and also a couple of Revolutionary War soldiers in it.

interesting building on this cemetery! I only saw something like this in iraque, there they have crypts or little houses on each grave, because of the heat and the long jorney to visit! ;o)

It looks like a family mausoleum - a great photo to remember a sad war with cousins & brothers fighting against each other!
