Description
Still in Lithia Park. Aside from the lush foliage & the play of light & shadow, what struck me about this scene was how this small building (I think it's probably a maintenance shed) blended into it's surroundings. It's colors are similar to the foliage & it's positioned in an unobtrusive way. I often crop buildings out of landscapes (unless they're architecturally interesting), but I though the straight line geometry of this shed actually contrasted nicely with the organic geometry of the vegetation to add visual interest, while not clashing with the color scheme. I agree ... the building adds, rather than detracts. It's kind of homey and cozy, and makes me think there's a gardener somewhere who loves their job and spends many happy hours in there, puttering around.

I think it's harmonious too; I usually don't mind small buildings, especially if they have a good use. I like how this one nestles right in like it belongs. What a lovely park this is!
Yeah, with tara, denise and mike, I like the building there too. If architecture works with nature, it can feel right in a landscape. Because of your saturated yellows---which are eye popping---the deep shadows make this piece almost magical and luminous. The trees are a real bouquet of yellows browns and greens. And the pic has some high-whites to capture the power of the light. Because you have half the pic in shadow (generally) and half in light, the house---in the center---is a perfect meeting point: It flows in and out of these halves very naturally to me. And sheds---which, yes, one assumes this is---can feel like little creatures nestling into nature, if they're unobtrusive enough. Very pleasing and full. If everyone saw nature as you do, maybe we'd have more environmentally friendly behavior around us.
