A small parade by veterans and members of the armed forces commemorating this day is reflected on the somber faces of the onlookers.
Suggestive of something that Norman Rockwell would paint.
And one out of the several photos from my files that I deemed appropriate for today, captured 5/25/09, at the beautiful Los Angeles National Cemetery in beautiful West Los Angeles, California.

Not even a hint of a smile. Well captured and most appropriate.
What's so touching about this shot is that, with all the different outfits---even a Civil War outfit---and all the different nationalities and generations represented, they're all together in solemn remembrance of all who've fallen in battle. And of those who suffered battle, period. It's a touching photo, Harry, very clear, very vivid in fact; and, for a single swath of humanity, quite a gathering for a single shot---kudos for your eye and diligence in getting this full moment. And it's surrounded by teeming and beautiful nature, letting nature itself give a piece of its beauty. A most fitting tribute, and my thanks to you, again, for all you did to serve.
