Carol, I'll try this again. My server is crawling, and when I use a 4-G card, it moves a little faster, but the card just isn't made for resource intensive sites (like art sites---esp with all the advertising this one has). I lost the comment to this about 2 hours ago, I'll see if I can't get it to stick now... First thing I said was that I didn't know what a wallpaper 'border' was...it doesn't matter for the art of this image, but I was just curious. I know nothing about the field of wallpapers, and I didn't know that border designs could be this full or high or wide. In any case, it's a dreamy image, something for someone to look at and dream at. You have 2 unicorns prancing, and one resting, in a bed of clouds. And some birds, and castle, mythical clouds, stardust, a rainbow and an earth with semi-bas relief landmasses (a nice subtle touch). The clouds are, as a lot of your space and clouds are, a mix of airiness with 'mass'. You achieve, often, this mix of very airy textures that nonetheless feel like heavy cream or heavy mists, and the like. And the unicorn torsos---esp the middle and right-side ones---are articulated with beautiful swaths of hue, typical of you, and the right-most one is almost wearing fleece, as his/her coat is like clouds mixed with fleece mixed with iced cream. These semi-corporeal textures are a delight. And you have a castle in the middle which is skewed and distorted with the touch of a folktale teller, a humorous twist on an actual castle that very adept folk illustrators do. And the right-most unicorn looks like he dropped into the scene and caused a "splash"---the clouds beneath his feet seem to be splashing outwards from his appearance, and there seems to be a kind of spirit-tornado behind him, that billows beautifully out of the firmament on which he stands. It's odd that "firmament"---used in the Judeo-Christian Bible to indicate the heavens---means "firm" in our language (from the Latin), and the original hebrew meant something similar, and it was used of the sky, of all things---which means that some writer, somewhere, conceived the heavens as being touchable, sensual, visceral. Spirit made physical. And that's what you do in a lot of your backgrounds, you make the intangible physical. A delightful piece for walls, something to gaze at and dream over; and done in silvery blues and whites, with touches of violets, greens, etc., all in a soft high key. More beautiful work from you.

Mark, thanks so much for your wonderfully detailed and insightful comment. As always, you inspire me with your vision and see things in my work that thrills me. To answer your question- a wallpaper border is a strip of design, usually about 12 to 15 inches high and a repeat pattern that is often used at the place where the wall and ceiling meet. It can also be used in the middle of the wall.
