Description
A critically endangered animal.
The Somali wild ass is suffering from three main threats: hunting, loss of habitat and competition for resources. Its domain is a drought-stricken war zone, its flesh is eaten in the belief that it cures hepatitis and it has to complete with domestic livestock for food and water. Urgent action is needed if the breed is to be saved from extinction.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
~Melinda~

"hunting, loss of habitat" What a piece of work is a man eh? When will we learn? To quote an old Indian chief "When the last tree is cut down, the last fish caught, and the last river poisoned, only then will man realize you cannot eat money" There's wisdom in those words, that modern man cannot see with his own greedy eyes. Rant over :) Super picture Melinda!
beautiful capture
Superb capture. God bless.
This is great. If I may... especially with moving subject... place in rear of frame if at all possible. Always allow breathing room to front, so subject does not appear "trapped" This is info I have gotten from book on photography. Just passing it along. No insults from me, only advice. Still a great catch!
Thank you. I appreciate the advice.
Cures hepatitis? Gimme a break. And, I never knew that a wild ass could look so elegant and sleek-like. With its body, mane and leg features, it looks like it's related to the zebra species. A pity that it is highly endangered. Splendid looking creature, Melinda, and you acquired a top notch shot of it.
Strong composition.
Sad to read that information but this fellow is a beautiful specimen. Sounds like a great place to visit and an exceptional capture!
