We visited Fort Morgan yesterday. The best part of the day was that Mandy got to go in with us. She was allowed everywhere on the grounds, and boy, did she have a good time! I pushed her in her stroller all around on the ground floor, and she was quite attentive to the texture of the walls, the way the light fell, and the way voices echoed in the hallways. At one point she looked at me and said, "So this is what you guys do when you go places without me, huh?" She got to meet several other dogs, got petted by a bunch of nice people, and generally had a great time. :)

A magnificent & magical masterpiece! This image seems to sparkle & radiate light. And the geometry is fascinating too - almost entirely made up of rectangles except for that arched doorway...

I've been away, as you can probably guess. Actually, I've been right here in Chicago, but really busy with icky stuff like work. But I'm back now, and naturally, the first thing I see is not only a really amazingly cool photo, but a really amazingly cool photo that evokes stories of far-away places (so far away that stairs don't have railings, because it's just that far away, and the people there are that much more careful on stairs! (Well, actually, there is a railing, but it looks like it was added, once tourists from over here started going over there. I love the mood of this and the wonderful, subtle colors! Yeah. This rocks!
Oh, and I'd love to hear Mandy's account too. Dogs are so perceptive. Imagine the smells she could tell us about!
Wow, what a drop-dead stunning find and composition here! And I can just imagine Mandy in her stroller... "....lunch? do I smell lunch? Push me closer over to that pile of stuff ...is that a dog? boy or girl? where's he been? ...lunch? lunch? LUNCH? ...stairs. You want me to walk up stairs? can we go now, where's the car ...nice people, scratch me THERE! and THERE! ...lunch? I want a nap."

Superb composition. I got the arched doorway but really didn't get that wonderful angle on the stairs...the tyranny of symmetry got me...I prefer you asymmetry.

Frankly, you do not see on the picture, that there were many people at the same time (like your information says, in connection with petting Mandy by so many). I admire the atmosphere of desolation, as all the different colors. The fact of 'not knowing' as you see a staircase going upstairs, and another goes down. It is so interesting, dear friend!
all the above---this is one loved photo. It's splendid Tara, not only for the big stairs on one end and that deep dark opening on the other, or the contrast of the door-arch w/ the deep dark underneath it, or the dark brick on the right w/ lighter brick in center (and then dark and light on the left)...well, you get the idea, lots of balances, lots of contrasts---terrific composition---but also for your heightening of details, like the strong white paint or mold on the bricks and stones, the verticals of soot dripping down from years of rain, that wonderful rich red on the door...you've made love to these colors and made a deep, rich image, and captured real questions and mysteries. Yet it's got great light. Beautiful work! A beautiful conception, crop, treatment, all of it...a real Tara piece, as people above agree. (Maybe Mandi was muttering, "yeah right...a real tara piece, nyaa nyaa...I could've done better with my eyes closed---if she just let me touch her camera...") (Well it could happen.) And Chip came back! A great way to christen a beautiful image! Splendid work, Tara.
