Description
I wrote this many years ago while resting on a beach in Lombok, Indonesia. I hope you enjoy it.
"The Flute Boy"
The music came to where I lay,
upon a beach quite far away.
It seemed to fill the air around,
with a sweet hypnotic sound,
wafting like a plaintive sigh,
that drifted downwards from the sky.
It spoke of hopes and wistful dreams,
with its strange exotic themes,
for all to love, and all to share,
this music that was everywhere.
But what, and where the source that sent
these notes of such a sweet lament.
And then I saw in sunlight glare,
it was a flute boy standing there.
The music stopped while he did wait,
to think a bit, and contemplate
the stranger there upon the sand,
intruding from a foreign land.
He gazed beneath the lashes curled
with eyes born to another world.
And greater grew the silence then,
a pause that lasted until when,
he put the flute between his lips,
and gently moved his finger tips
to play his haunting melody,
and slowly walk away from me.
