Description
A victim of the St Valentine's Night storm in my road.
The owners are very pleased..they have wanted it down for ages but were not allowed as there is a Tree Preservation Order on every tree in our district thicker than a man's arm.
Hence the expression..."it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good."

An excellent shot.
no other damage I hope ??
WOW! So I should maybe say congratulations LOL ! Great shot :)
Flip, winds must have been strong.
Good thing it stopped where it did, could have killed someone. Excellent reportage.
I wonder if the authorities, as they love the tree so much, will cut it up and carry it away !!!
Wow. Impressive crash. Great capture
Amazing capture Andrea. God bless.
Amazing how much damage a windstorm can do.
There goes another rubber tree plant! Well now, I see the old timer took somewhat of a tumble in this quasi arboreal pic, Andrea. And, the use of 'ill wind' is most commonly in the phrase 'it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good'. This is first recorded in John Heywood's A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the prouerbes in the Englishe tongue, 1546: "An yll wynde that blowth no man to good, men say." GREAT CAPTURE AND THOSE NEIGHBOURS OF YOURS WERE LUCKY IN MORE THAN ONE WAY
Very good capture and 'good news'
Nice for them as it looks like it did no harm to anything else!
Fantastic captures. I would hate to have to clean up that mess, always sad to see a nice tree fall when it's healthy but we have had so much rain the root support of some tree's is weakened by the soft soil... probably this summer they will have the audacity to impose a hosepipe ban!.. the excuse.. "We did not have the right kind of rain". Glad things have calmed down a bit now.
mother nature does have a way of taking things into her own hands!! i just paid a guy a lot of money to top a very big fir tree, but if i'd let the wind do it, i think i would have lost a lot more!!!
It does look like it is leaning against the house. I can see why your neighbors were worried about it. Nice capture of this almost disaster.
for luck he is falling to the best place - naturally balance did this work!
Wow hope the house is ok a really beautiful place there hon stay safe my friend.
Yes excellent reportage :)
Oh dear, that must have made quite a crash. I hope the house and tenants escaped harm!
wonder if he can suit the city on the Tree Preservation Order
Fine captures, Andrea - hope nobody was hurd or something severe damaged?
I'm always sad when I see a tree down, especially a great big old tree like this one.
Huge root ball and sometimes good things come from bad events!
