Description
Marble Mountain is a cluster of five marble and limestone hills. They are located in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, southeast of Danang.
While stationed at the Danang AB in 1966-67, Marble Mountain was one of three locations we could easily identify from the base. The other were Monkey Mountain and Hill 327 which was known as 'Freedom Hill'.
The US Marines had a helicopter facility at Marble Mountain and there was always hostile VC activity, especially at night. Marble Mountain was between the base and China Beach and it was close enough for us to hear and see the Douglas AC-47D "Spooky' gun ships in action.
I did not realize that the hills were overgrown. This picture was taken on 22 August 2012,

Cool photo and great bit of history
A nice shot but spoilt by the yellow thing Sig.
Lovely capture of this Mountain and buildings Sig that yellow thing does look out of place whatever it is.. A flag maybe?
I don't know what that 'yellow thing' is, but this shot was taken out of a moving mini bus while it was raining, and they weren't stopping for me to take a picture! Sorry!!
AMAZING WORK!
fantastic
Plenty of cover then for the sneaky VC's... watching the Spookies would have been interesting. That lift/stairwell structure to get to the temple? looks interesting as well!
How things have changed
lot of history here . cool looking
Fantastic shot.
So a place with a history. Makes it a special shot!
Shining shot.
Awesome image here.
Interesting shot
Cool!
I am glad that you are able to tell of your experiences in Vietnam. beautiful structure
What a great collection of pictures from your trip! Sorry to be so far behind ... I haven't been here for far too long. It was good to talk and catch up with you today! :)
A super capture and the elevator helps get access to that beautiful pagoda!
Lovely pagoda on a hill. Always have a soft spot for things ancient and Asian. The presence of reminders of the intrusions of the modern West kind of spoilt it for me, though... :(
