Description

I took this of a marching band in a parade. I liked it so I painted it . 18x24 inches, I at my dads house so I have to paint small, but that ok as people need small paintings also for the room on they walls in they houses. oh look in the horn part at bottom and you see the marching band

I'll be back for more soon, Jock---this is only a "preliminary" visit. But I had to stop by and comment today, just to get my feet wet once more in your gallery. When this went up, I assumed that the big blue swirls behind the saxophone were a moving car. Then I thought maybe it's a big tuba. But, with your painting, even recognizable objects become deep energies and musical "space"---you turn space into power and energy in your paintings. So whatever it is, it's a beautiful swirling "presence" behind the musician's hands. (The blue "encircles" the hand so well. This is so typical of you: Your whole painting-universe dances.) The green rushes like a river, so does the blue. And the blues around the sax-bell also rush---such power! You're truly a musician's painter! You even have rushing hues in the arm. And I love the detail in the sax-bell---ie, the parade. And the sax-keys glitter. (I imagine it's not easy to paint sax keys, because they're not regular at all: Each key is a different shape, and is placed in a different way---I'd imagine it would be a bit maddening to paint them all. They're wonderfully energetic, here.) You do dramatic closeups in your music paintings: They're very photographic, in fact. But once you put the brush to canvas? They're all painting---and they're grand. I'll be back for more, but boy is this exciting to see.
