Description
These Xanthoria lichens completely coat the shrubs at the top of the steps down to Boscome Pier.
They are a pollution tolerant species, and must also be salt tolerant in this location!
It is definitely worth looking at a close-up Here

Gorgeous Capture and Clarity. Zoom is a must for this beauty
Lichens make for an attractive display but this brings to mind one of those bad Sci-Fi movies where the threat from outer space has taken over. You know, "Resistance is futile. You will be absorbed!" This is a terrific image. Great color, light and clarity.
the Flickr closeup is awesome! I love these lichens that put out the little cup like, what, blooms? or do they contain spores and leave these little cup like thingies behind? Wonderful capture!!
Very lush growth and richly coloured too! Looks good enough to eat!
You really have captured that well, wonderful natural colour too.
Can't Believe It! So cool !!!
Very prolific and a super green colour for winter.
VERY NICE
Great captures, both! at times I think of them as an alien life form just by their appearance
Splendid shot of a species of growth I would never be able to recognize without a guide or a floral manual, Andrea.
I love these particularly! Excellent shot, and the closeup too!
