Description
This old oak tree sits near the edge of a five acre field on my property. It has been in pretty sad shape since we moved here a little over ten years ago & has been slowly deteriorating ever since. This past year, the tree split almost in half & the fallen half lay on the ground for a few months until someone we hired to work on our property offered to take the wood as partial payment for his services (although some was rotted, a good portion was still usable as firewood).
Despite it's condition, it still manages to survive somehow. I see an angry face, with one eye blackened, on this tree (in the brown area near the top where the bark has worn away) & that truncated limb seems like a defiant fist that it is waving, as if to say to whatever gods have wreaked this misery upon it, "You've done your best to destroy me, but I'm still here!"
I used the Context-Aware Move Tool to remove some electrical wires from the sky, as well as a barn & one other small structure. I also recently acquired the Topaz Adjust 5 set of filters & used it for the first time on this photo & did some layer blending to try to add drama to this image...
