Description
Spotted on the thorn of a tree on a farm, this beetle had been pinned by a Southern Fiscal Shrike (Lanius collaris).
It is also sometimes named Jackie Hangman or Butcher Bird due to its habit of impaling its prey on acacia thorns to store the food for later consumption.
Have a great day!

Incredible shot!
Excellent! The first shot I've seen of this strategy. Locally some birds do this using the thorns on the Russian Olive tree but I have not seen it happen.
I've never seen this behaviour, what an excellent capture!
Excellent shot Clive. We have shrikes in the UK too.
Gosh! What a way to get done in! Fantastic pic!
JIkes it makes me think of our Lord Jesus Christ crucifixion. Great find and capture Clive. God bless.
I thought some arboreal entomologist had been at work !! amazing that birds actually do this, great shot and I have learned a new fact for the day :)
Yikes! What a way to go. An excellent capture of this odd behavior!
I've heard of some birds doing this and now you've presented the proof Thanks
