Description
Taken yesterday afternoon just up the hill from where we have had our motorhome parked for the past two weeks.
The mature saguaro cactus nearby range in size from 10-20 feet in height. They are particularly pretty in the late afternoon sun.

As always, zoom---even though it's not much larger---reveals deeper hues; and those hues are subtle and wonderful. The light on this cactus is unique to a very special moment of each day; and you captured it so clearly and magically. It's set off by the detail on the cactus's surface. (I don't know what you call them: The 'spikes', the 'needles'---I don't know.) Most of the lower vegetation is in shadow, but you have some of it in beautiful peach gold hues---with real clarity in the details. And all against that dark gray-blue sky: Wonderful contrast. A real "simple" image, for all its detail. Beautiful work, Bill. Great colors and clarity abound. And it's very moody too.
