Description
Crepidotus mollis.
On a log in my woodpile. I bought a tarpaulin for the logpile yesterday, for as I was stacking it I felt that someone might have been knicking a few in the night!
So now it will hopefully be a tad more tricky for them to do so

Excellent shot!
Great picture Wonderful shot!!!!!!
Great detail. Could a revengeful neighborhood fox be trying to get back at Ralphie? Not quite sure how he'd carry a piece of wood though...
Such a lovely shroom Andrea. Hope no more wood will be knicked.
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
This pic is a beauty Andrea, a great find.
Beautifully taken and the zoom is well worth it :)
Oh my. Just look at all the detail, and that pattern is fabulous! It's mesmerizing to look at. Excellent capture!
What an amazing example of nature.
Outstanding photo of this amazing growth, Andrea. I thought at first it had something to do with mushrooms, and not immature oysters shedding their skin. And, another one of your local arcane colloquialisms, knicking, was no where to be found on Google.
What a gorgeous fungus!
Top shooting. people are so low as to steal another persons logs. My god in heaven, what is it coming to when even a log or two isn't sacred. Maybe it all those "Arcane" ingrates eh?
Very cool capture It's a shame that the Old Bills frown on booby traps - a couple of well placed tricks and the word gets around quick
this is wonderful
Best not to look at this for very long. I might become hypnotized. Absolutely stunning detail and a really beautiful pattern.
Sort of an upside-down shroom ? it's very intriguing to me to see this type of 'fungus' - but still very appealing or peeling ;)) BB
This is so cool love the bottoms of these.
Great capture, I don't think this is edible, reality is there are Fungi we don't know enough about to say one way or the other, in those cases it's best to avoid eating it. Preparation is key with fungi and get that wrong and it can be the last mistake. It seems we encounter thieves no matter where we might be.. good idea to cover it up, If all else fails hook up a cctv camera in an overlooking window.. might expect it to be a youth or someone but it could be some old timer under austerity conditions needs a few to burn. Theft is theft and I'm sure if the person responsible knocked and asked and maybe offer a modest sum.. things might be different.
Very attractive!!
Perfect close up
What a beautiful mushroom! What a shame that someone's helping themselves to your wood. Someone mentioned traps .. even a few well placed rat traps could do the trick!
A gorgeous display of a mushroom's gills. I love tis pattern!!!
What a beautiful structure with the little inward curl! Cracking shot too!
Fascinating, I've not seen this before.
