Description
This North American B-25J (44-31004) is located next to the USS Alabama at Mobile, Alabama. It is painted in the colors of the 499th Squadron "Bats Outta Hell" of the 345th Bomb Group "Air Apaches". The 345th operated out of New Guinea and the Philippine Islands from 1943-45 and sank over 250 Japanese ships while damaging many more and destroying over 350 enemy planes on the ground and in the air. It was armed with 12 forward firing .50 cal. machine guns and 6 more guns in dorsal, tail and waist positions. It could carry up to 3,000 lbs. of bombs.

Excellent shot! As a kid in the 50's a built a model kit of the B-25 which became my favorite.
wow it sounds like a bad to the bones plane. but I know it was the men that was train to do a job and they did it really good.

Fine photo Roger. Just checked...over 50,000 employees at the North American Fairfax Bomber Plant in Kansas City built a total of 6,608 B-25s. Quite a production run.
