Description

Here's one of the freebie birds I've produced for my Woodland Jewels set. The Melodious Warbler is very close in resemblance to the Icterine Warbler and is best identified by location. The Melodious Warbler is found in southwestern Europe and northwestern Africa while the Icterine Warbler is found in northern and eastern Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. There are slight identification points you can look to... the Melodious warbler is browner on the upper parts, has a more distinct eyebrow and plainer wing feathers than the "Icky". The song is also different; as the name indicates, the song is a pleasant babbling, whereas the "Icky's" song is a faster nasal babbling incorporating mimicry of other species. The call is described as "teck" or "tec, tec, tec". The image shows both the non-breeding (white belly) and breeding (yellow belly) plumages. Male and females look alike.
