Description
I bought this movie prop of the Crystal Chalice from Haryy Potter a while back and decided to try doing some more lighting work using it. I used two lights for this shot, one in front at about 45 degrees to the left of the chalice, and the second above with a tin foil snoot aimed behind the chalice. I also used some tin foil to reflect light up from the bottom of the front of the shell. I shot this with a Canon G16 at ISO 80, 21 mm, f5.0, at 1/30 sec on AV.

Very nice!
cool lighting/exposure study
Interesting different. great
3rd time lucky for the post??? :o) Certainly an interesting and impressive photo.. could also be a gemstone formation looking at it from the left, or a fossilised tooth..( from something very large, very hungry, with very bad breath) looking at it from the right POV.. A very cool photo, neat!
Very cool. Nice photo.
beautiful stone and effective lighting
marvellous picture
looks like I'm going to have to watch the HP series to know what this is about but you've done a great job in lighting and presenting this
A fascinating shot!
And if we don't hear from you soon it may be assumed you've been taken by a Horrorcrux (or whatever those ghastly creatures are called)! Nice lighing job and THANKS for telling us how you did it! Keep up the good work! :-)
So that is the Chalice from the Palace?
Ha ha, no Bill. From the cavern by the sea.
