Description
I couldn't pass up doing at least one Halloween-type character, so here is my latest o.c. Jyl O'Lantern! She is an alien bounty hunter that was inspired by the Earth holiday of Halloween to create her entire repertoire of gimmicks and persona around. Her race is Unizian from the planet Uniz, and they are physically similar to the Revans from the planet Reva, another alien race of mine recently seen from examples of my characters "Suni Shores" and "Racer-Girl." The difference between the Unizians and the Revans is quite subtle. Unizians and Revans both have solid colored eyes with no visible pupils or irises that come in many colors, as well as hair that comes in many colors, but only Revans have skin tones that come in multiple colors - all Unizians are red and red alone. The other subtle difference between the two races is that while both have pointed ears, the Revans' ears bend downward a bit whereas the Unizians have straight elfin-like ears. Thus, the Unizians are more in line with my other race of green skinned elves from the planet Vegtan as shown by the character "Elf Queen" except that they're obviously red and not green and not known as "elves" either.
As stated, her base of operations is her starship, the Darklight. She is an intergalactic bounty hunter who appropriately belongs to the Intergalactic Bounty Hunters Conglomerate. Her ship is her home, and it has everything she needs to survive and do her job out of. I never said whether or not she has a home port to go to for refueling, and to re-supply though, so that could be anywhere. However, she is an Unizian from the planet Uniz, so it’s likely that she just goes somewhere on her home planet for that. Her bio doesn't say speciifically where on her home world that she is from, but it does mention the capitol city, where she did spend at least one portion of her life living in while getting an education, so perhaps she uses that as a home port.
Otherwise, if there is any kind of IBHC HQ somewhere, she might be able to use their facilities. This is something that I’m not sure of though, and I will have to look into, because I believe that I’ve been treating the IBHC as a kind of nebulous organization without any real unity or anything. But, even if they aren’t a real “team,” they should at least have some sort of governing body with some kind of rules and regulations that they have to follow, or at the very least have to pay some kind of dues to in order to have their licenses to bounty hunt.
So, that’s the thing right there, I need to further develop the organization with some kind of hierarchy and a base location. They need that much at least, and as far as any kinds of rules and regulations go, well, there probably aren’t any considering that some of them are less lawful than others, with some of them being heroic in their profession, and others being outright villains, with Jyl here being one of the more heroic ones. Be they hero or villain though, if there were to be a central base for all of them, it would have to be a neutral territory where hunters on both sides could go for whatever they needed without repercussions from their opposing guild mates.
So, again, I would need to flesh out some things with an organizational hierarchy so that things can run smoothly to avoid such conflicts, and also to ensure that while some of the members can be a bit more ruthless and villainous, that they still operate within certain parameters where they are still more or less just on the harsher end of the scale within the profession, but not really doing anything more evil such as trying to invoke any kind of major criminal schemes themselves or take over any cities or planets or anything like that. I don’t believe that any of the more evil bounty hunters are interested in doing anything like that or have any ambitions to go that far, but they are more likely to do some criminal acts, and get away with it such as just outright killing a prospective bounty or committing thievery, etc. Whereas, someone like Jyl, would be more likely to bring in all of her bounties alive, and do everything on the up and up.
But, again, being a bounty hunter does afford each and every one of them the license to get away with such things, and it’s up to the individual whether they are willing to utilize their freedom to do so at the utmost or not based on their own individual morality. And there needs to be some kind of governing body that regulates this, which would most likely also work with the Galactic Police, and perhaps even be a sub-division of them.
The main point is to have the IBHC be an organization that works with the law, but also allows for some bending or breaking, and a bit of above the law activities such as the above mentioned outright elimination of criminals if need be. A wanted dead or alive clause, as it were, but they can’t be sanctioned to do anything truly world ending for example, which I’ve already explained above as well, so I will stop here before I repeat myself any further.
