Description
Needs a full size view for gorgeous detailing.
This summer one of my photo clubs was invited to photograph a small town antique show. I thought I'd be photographing old crock pots and cracked mirrors. But much to my surprise a huge part of the show was antique tractors and big farm equipment. It ranged from rusting relics to slinky detailed refurbished beauties. Like this one.
Much to my amazement I became totally entranced and spent my entire day photographing metal, rubber and leather. These machines were works of art and I was in awe at the effort, creativity and raw talent that went into rebuilding them. I can't wait to go back and do it again next year.
Unfortunately my ignorance of machinery shows because I have no idea about the machines themselves so I can't tell you anything about them.
For this one I tried to recreate the feel of a vintage farm dealer calendar much like I saw in my Grandfather's house when I was a kid.
This image took second in the open catagory of a local photo competition and I was very pleased with that.

Great capture of this beauty from the farm. She is very sweet. Your postwork makes this image just pop right out. I'm surprised that this took second - should have been first or grand IMHO :-)
Thanks Mike but no, first went to a friend of mine and it was a total killer image. The guy is a genius with a lens.
Nice postwork, goes well with this one
Most incredible!
very good shot!!
This is a Ford 8N tractor, exactly what I drove all over Alberta looking for in suitable condition to rebuild. I looked for two summers and found the right one but could not contact the owner, then I finally gave up. I originally picked it because it was one of the few that I could drive right into my garage. Most have exhaust stacks that are too high. I soon came to love them and drove dozens of them. This is extremely well restored and your photo displays the same level of talent that the restorer possesses. Well done, instant fav!
Awesome capture!!!
Great capture & fantastic postwork...
Glorious Treatment on this !!!
Beautiful, if only Ford automobiles were as good.
Beautiful capture, gorgeous and clever approach to your post-work. Here in the country these are fairly common. Your description of what you saw at the the antique show sounds surprisingly like my average drive to and from work each day.
exceptional photo, Roxy.
I'm not surprised it did well it is a stunning image, well done !
What an amazing looking photo Roxie. They did a great job in restoring this true classic
Lovely shot and effects. Years ago, I worked at a horse farm and drove a tractor much like this one. It would not go above second gear, but it was fun to drive.
You certainly achieved the grain store calendar look Roxy... Beautiful. We used to use a ford tractor exactly like this, same colors and tires and all... to haul and split firewood for the winter, and to plow snow from the driveway.. Thanks for the memories... this is splendid work. (as I would expect from you)
I can certainly imagine this on a calendar - what a gorgeous work of art - both your photo and the tractor. This has a wonderful, dreamlike feel - I love this one, Roxy! I agree with Mike - it should have taken First!
Beautiful :O-)
excellent
Really cool pic. I like the post work you did, you show it off beautifully. Whoever did the work on the tractor is an artist too. Great looking machine.
Brilliant piece of art
