Description
Captured 9/28/13, early morning looking into the sun, within the normally congenial confines of my condominium complex.
A ZOOM would really bring it to fruition.
Au revoir.

Marvelous flower and fantastic lighting !
Beautiful flower!
Excellent postwork on this birds' plume.
Excellent shot!
Nice work on this very lovely capture, Harry
What a fantastically lit shot, Harry! I love that backlit glow...having grown up in those environs I quickly took for granted the ubiquitous birds of paradise that seem to grow everywhere in the southern California landscape. It's nice to see them again with fresh eyes to appreciate their exotic beauty! Well done!
cool pov and lighting
Exotic indeed! A great compensation for the relentless heat.
Love how you caught the light behind the bop. Great shot, Harry.
Wonderful flower shot. Aloha
This certainly shows how it got its name it looks like a bird ... but then I am not sure if that is why it was named that but works for me Nice image
Excellent light once more on a very colourful bloom indeed! Most unusual! Great shot. Rob
a most creative capture, where the flower almost seems to open its jaws to the world behind it, met by the flaring sun and those little rainbow effects around it. The flower almost looks like a bird with its beak opened, and it's wearing a crown on top of it all. And it's all lined up with that bulbous tree in the left-background---very nicely composed, Harry---and with the "jaws" opening to the bush on the right (as if it's holding that bush in its beak). A most fascinating capture. The light gives it an air befitting the name of the flower. And you have nice light/shadow play behind it, with the condo/house/whatever it is, growing 'out' of the bushes. Given the problems of shooting into that sun, you incorporated it as a "gracing" factor, as if it were gracing the prince (the flower). Really fine pov, angle, capture of light, and detail. Denise says how ubiquitous these are in your area: Well, they're not anywhere in MY area, lol, so seeing them so vividly portrayed in your gallery is an extra treat.
