Description
Aka liquidambar styraciflua, captured 9/26/13, very early morning, somewhere around the neighborhood.
Original on top, and ZOOM for definitive detail.
As the year progresses, the shadows grow longer.
I would not recommend falling or sliding on that particular pavement.
Speaking of pavements, gone are the good old days when all sidewalks were elegantly paved smooth as glass. Now there are many with all sorts of rough textures, just waiting to rip the skin to shreds.
Cheerybye.

Nice shot and manipulation!
Nice variations there. Don't think this is something I have ever seen before.
Cool stuff, Harry; I really like how that bottom variation zings. I'm guessing the rough sidewalks are to keep people from sliding and falling down (probably after lots of lawsuits over the years). At least the rough surface gives interest to the background of anything you shoot down there, eh? Excellent work, my friend!
Smooth sidewalks have been around for aeons, Denise, and they're still being constructed that way, offering plenty of friction for individuals to walk and run on them, so I can't image lawsuits getting anywhere in the courts.
Splendid work once again, Harry. The variations are especially nice.
That pod has aspirations to be a tree like the shadow. I am scared of shiny pavements, too slippery.
SLICK ! Texture galore. Fine work.
