Description
The only brick of its kind in an otherwise uniform wall, captured 9/23/13, very early morning, somewhere along the boulevard.
Extraordinarily better viewed via ZOOM.

We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! teachers! leave the kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
(Pink Floyd)
I don't know if those lyrics apply in this particular case, but it's all I could think of. And I believe they could have come up with something more appropriate to fill that gap in the bricks. Although, in retrospect, it's really not that important in light of the overall problems of the planet.
Ciao.

There is something rather meaningful about this!
Very cool capture Harry, and great idea to link it to the old Floyd tune
Amazing capture !
Excellent reference!
You captured great textures and patterns; similar to the moons surface. This reminds me of Pink Floyd " Dark Side of the Moon"
What a great eye to spot this outlier in the wall; I've never laid brick, so I have no explanation for the differing textures. Wonder if it's a "trick brick"? Pull it out and find the key to a treasure, or make the wall rotate, or a secret door open? But what a wonderful shot you got, the lighting is exceptional! Good one, Harry!
It is just one brick that they did not fill in the outer surface, the others are all filled.
I wonder how many people noticed this... Good eyes my friend. Aloha
Well spotted!!
well seen and mapped.!!!
Back to front? Run out of the ones needed? Just for fun? lol Make your mind up time and well spotted! Rob
The lyrics are so fitting to this!
I've known a couple of bricklayers, and they might say that this odd-brick-out was a later addition, to fix a damaged brick; and that the repair team didn't bother to match the added brick. (Pretty blatant mistake, lol!) (And if this was so, they were good enough at their craft to both match the grouting and the cover paint so that the newcomer looks as if it were part of the original wall.) In any case, this is one of your minimalist shots par excellence, and, like the others, it's anything but minimal. A wonderful play of light and shadow, that almost day-glo orange---perhaps made even clearer by your fine postwork---a wonderful almost enamalized sheen, your powerful early morning light---here adorned with a golden yellow---and that odd brick brighter than the others, adding the ribbon to the box, the cherry on the whipped cream, the ornament on the hood. You got all textures, hues, lights and shadows in perfect order, got them all to read their parts perfectly, and made another minimalist gem. And maybe I'd add "The Ugly Duckling" to the Pink Floyd...Just the right cropped/frame too. As Denise said, "What a great eye to spot this outlier in the wall"...that and how you handled it from start to finish.
