.......Cross the parking lot?
Why, he wanted me to take a photo, of course... :-D And naturally, I obliged!
We stopped at a spot along the road in Wind Cave National Park, and this handsome fellow just ambled calmly across the parking lot a few feet away from me. He just went about his business, and paid me no mind (just another bloody tourist, I'm sure he was thinking).
They have signs all over the place cautioning people NOT to approach these animals - and with good reason. Bison are large, powerful beasts - a full-grown male like this one can weigh nearly a ton. And they can easily outrun a human. Which is why I just stood close to the *open* door of the car, and made no sudden movements. These bison are used to people being around since they live in a national park, and pretty well mind their own business if you mind yours. Just letting him pass provided me with a pretty decent photo op!

yes i saw on youtube videos of them attacking people. i saw them take on a grizzly bear also. do not want one of them to be after me. lol. very good shot

VERY COOL Rod! Sad to think they used to roam in herds so vast they took days to pass and then they were nearly completely wiped out but we European invaders to this land.
