Description

"Hunting The Red Baron" *This pictures title summons the instant image of Charles Shultz's 'Peanuts' characters and the one in particular would be Snoopy, on top of his doghouse pretending it's his WWII Sopwith Camel and Snoopy is the WWII Flying Ace out hunting his adversary "The Red Baron". Well it's actually a true story. There was a red plane of the German Flying Corp and a pilot name Der Red Baron who supposedly was the most feared pilot to fly in that war and many missions. So it's interesting that Shultz incorporated him into Snoopy's imagination, and now I am incorporating both of them into this art piece. Peace! You'll find that the 'Red Baron' took part in the First World War, not the second. From Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_von_Richthofen Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918), also widely known as the Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot with the Imperial German Army Air Service (Luftstreitkräfte) during World War I. He is considered the top ace of that war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.

This is really great... the luminous colours on black remind me of some kinds of "marine" art (whales come to mind) and the mountains add that nice sense of Polynesian meets Gothic, where a F4U Corsair would feel right at home. Sort of "Sky Captain" but with more Coconuts... Good stuff!
