Description
Aye, mon, the big parade, with lad and lassie bagpipers and drummers of all ages and clans passing proudly by.
Captured 5/29/10, at the beautiful Orange County Fair & Event Center in beautiful Costa Mesa, California.
To be more concise, it was the United Scottish Society's Highland Games & Gathering's Scottish Festival of Celtic Entertainment & Food.
Much better viewed full size.
Since I posted the first Scots Fest collage in March of 2011, I figured it was about time to add another one. I have an overwhelming plenitude of pictures from that event. Although it looks brit, it wasn't as hot there as it appears.
And, how times have changed. Included in the vast group of pipers and drummers I encountered that day are those of Asian and Black heritage.
Gudebye, baby, and have a nice day.

Very cool collage here Harry, I'd like to see this in person
Wonderful shots. My grandfather was Scottish.
I love all things Scottish; I get chills all up and down my arms and legs when I hear bagpipes. I went to a Highland Games affair at MacAlaster College in St. Paul, Minnesota at least 35 years ago, and it was quite memorable. A wonderful collection of shots of these musicians; I'll bet it sounded awesome! Excellent work, my friend!
Interesting pics, although you won't see a genuine Scot wearing a sporran on the hip!
great! too bad you didn't include the music
I remember you posting some images like this before. The college I worked at their teams were know as the fighting Scots, so it was not unusual to see students wearing the kilts at games or parades. Nice image
Great pictures and beautiful color!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More fine shots, with real clarity and vividness. And your sequence shows a musical sense: You give us pipes (1 and 2), big drums (bass drums---3), and snare drums (4 and 5). And a nice interplay of angles, as we move down, with a closer view in the end. Really vivid captures, which only enhances the outfits all the more; and you got the sense of spacing in marching ensembles too. This is a fine series, this and the next image. You did this group proud, Harry. As for the mix of nationalities in the group: One reason they use non-Scottish players is probably that there aren't that many people of any nationality who can play the Scottish bagpipes. As i said in the next upload, these are loud; and I imagine a young child, crying "I wanna play bagpipes" could send their parents to Canada when they pull out the ol' bag and start blowin' away. If you think a bad violinist is hell on earth---man, you ain't lived till you've heard the wheezing and moaning of a bad Scottish pipe player. (Oh, and play these pipes in front of a dog: You won't see that dog for weeks. That dog'll be in South America before you can say hello...) These are two splendid collections.
wonderful
Scot's Band.....always sound brilliant! Great selection Harry.. Rob
