Description

The mushrooms, butterflies and lichen were side benefits of our hike up Mt Liberty to see the Flume Gorge. This is the beginning of the hike but the bottom of the water flow. The roar of the rapids was deafening. We went early in the morning to get back before the heat of the day but ran into thick mist like a good old fashion London Fog. As we move up the gorge you will get an idea of the volume of water coming down the mountain side. Wikipedia says: The Flume Gorge is at the base of Mount Liberty in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire, US. Cut by the Flume Brook, the gorge features walls of Conway granite that rise to a height of 70 to 90 feet (21 to 27 meters) and are 12 to 20 feet (3.7 to 6.1 meters) wide. The gorge was discovered in 1883 by 93-year-old Aunt Jess Guernsey. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
