Outside Baker City, Oregon, at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.
I wonder if someone traveling the Oregon Trail 150 years ago saw these same rocks with the ancestors of these lichen growing there?

I have seen parts of the trail and I find it awe inspiring. No doubt these rocks were seen by those pioneers.
Exciting to think of that. There is such a variety of lichen, and I like the look of the rust coloured one.

So stunning! It reminds me of the Namib desert with my 2009 visit after they had good rain. Lichen and wild flowers were everywhere in the arid landscape!
