Description
Tonight, I was at the bedside of a dear friend whom I've known for 39 Years. I met him on my first duty station, USS Enterprise, CVAN 65. He passed away at 1630 hours in his sleep. His wife Willie (my ex); his older sister, Mary; our son, Josiah & his wife; my step-son Aaron & his wife; and various friends and other members were there. We told him that it was okay, that he could go and that we love him.
He took his last breath and passed on.
I know that he is at last at peace but it is still very hard.
Phil, my friend, I wish you Fair Winds and Calm Seas and the stars to guide you.
As he was an avid bicyclist and he has participate in events like this, I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate this shot of last year's Bridge Pedal in memory

My deepest condolences, Mike. I could only imagine how hard it was for you and all of Phil's loved ones to tell him it was okay to go. I can only hope that I would be fortunate to have a good friend for as long as you had with Phil. May God welcome Phil and reunite him with those who made that final journey before him.
Excellent shot!

This is a wonderful tribute to your friend. I am so sorry for your loss. He is at peace but for those left behind it is always a hard parting.
Nice tribute. In the end it's the friends we have and the memories of them.
You know and said he found peace at last and that is a good thing, it is always hard for family and friends to say goodbye to a loved one - and I commiserate with you, it's never easy ... I have lost several friends recently and feel for you, Bless you Mike, BB
