When the aliens arrived, they told us; "We come in peace. All we need is a small portion of Earth for living space; say, China."
Humanity could have the rest of the Earth--same as always. Well, by then, most of the Earth's nations were afraid of China. It looked to us like they would be the new sole Superpower after America's decline and everybody feared Chinese hegenomy. The United Nations agreed. "Sure," they said, "Take China!" So the aliens did.
The aliens wiped out the Chinese and settled in. "We promise that the rest of the Earth will be yours for as long as the grass grows green and the buffalo roam free."
Then about a decade later, they took over Korea and swallowed Japan a few years after that. A new treaty was made and again, they promised that what was left--although less than that of the earlier promise--would belong to humankind for as long as the grass grows green...."
Within a half-century, Humankind's living space had been reduced to Australia, which what with all the hotter climate changes was pretty much a desolate, unproductive place. The aliens, though, assure us that we don't need to worry. "Australia is Human Territory; it is yours for as long as the grass grows green."
The aliens say there's nothing about Australia that interest them, but they would like to start talks on how to help us develop our mineral rights to the mutual benefit of both races. Seems to me, the grass is beginning to seriously wither!

A little satyric humor of the bitter kind! All this is just something that popped into my head the other night. The crimes we humans do in the name of progress all over the world. It is not a uniquely American practice; it is a Human one. When will we ever learn that we are all one family in a very tiny raft that is floating on a tremendously large sea?
Thanks for your visit, comments, and encouragements.

Not real happy with the grasses, but they are certainly far better than in the original version. I recommend ZOOMing this one. Forgot a couple of credits: Horses: Predation's "LoRez Horse" (DAZ). Grass: Flink's "Grass1" and "Grass2" (Renderosity). Trees: Ian M Palmer's "Instant Forest" (Renderosity). My apologies for the oversight.
Great Image.. Sounds like something I read in a history book once..
But they gave me all these pretty beads. And that kick-ass liquor, too. The blankets smell a little off, but they have pretty designs. See, they're nice guys. We can trust them. Nice image. I can't do grass well in Bryce either, though. Keep meaning to learn Vue, since I've paid for it and stuff.
Nice work
amazing work!
excelent creation
Isn't that the truth, fantastic scene and characters, outstanding work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wOw This is awesome......
nice work
Many moons ago, the white man gave us this land, for as long as the water flows and the grass grows, but as you can see, we got boned! Funny thing is, its finally coming around to bite them in the ass. :-D Great work all around. Unfortunately, as powerful as the story is it will continue to fall upon deaf ears.
Meaningful words!! and great work in Bryce! it is hard to do grass...I think I gave up and only used a ground material when I used to work in Bryce...
Oh man, that's just ho it goes, indeed! Excellent image! Corrie
Excellent illustration of an age old problem.
Excellent creation! :)
Nice to see a Bryce render again...very well done! Grass is hard in Bryce, although Daz's Instant Grass for Bryce works pretty good, and is effective using the instance lab with a terrain, the billboard style allows for more grass in a scene.
Very special Image ... Hope to see art from you soon again
Nice. I like a good sic-fi picture. Especially when it includes a sense of time in the past direction.
A story to think on a little bit and a very fine render!
