Description
A female Myathropa florea, (I think!)
My marvellous new Hoverfly ID book has made my ID attempts much more complicated, on the basis that the more you know, the more you NEED to know!

A wonderful close-up shot and great detail, it's not easy capturing these, they tend to be always hovering... the beats of their wings are so fast it's as if they are floating.. This link might help identification.... http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/artmay07/cd-hoverflies.html

Explains why so many people choose to remain ignorant. Less work for them. The details in this image are stunning. Superior sneaking-up-from-behind skills.
