Description
The Nakajima Ki-43 "Hayabusa" has featured occasionally in my uploads but I've not really been satisfied with the 3D versions available. So I decided to make my own. As you do. Its quite a small, elegant airframe - and certainly one of those aircraft that the pilot wears, rather than rides. (To digress, believe it or not, I actually began modelling the portly Curtiss P36 Hawk, but the top-view of the Hawk reminded me so much of the Ki43 I realised I could borrow the Shade file, tweak it some and have the beginnings of a ki43 in no time at all. Next we'll have "Genesis" for monoplanes? The finished model will come with a choice of cowlings parented in Poser to create marks I to III so I can portray the early Ki 43 I and II aircraft reconstructed by the TAIU during the war as well as the later II's and III's with exhausts sprouting everywhere, such as the Ki43 III represented here. One day soon I'll get back to the "Hawk" ...

The 'Ultimate' Ki-43 ! I can tell you from experience, you'll need to make a BIG box :-) This looks brilliant, always liked this one.It always looked good with half the paint weathered off.Never could understand why the Japanese could make such cool planes but such crap paint. I look forward to more as this progresses to completion.
