You did an amazing job on the technique and great that you show us the results.I am a big fan of HDR but in portraits maybe not so much. A soft touch I think works better here. I would have made a layered composite, keeping her eyes in HDR, which just a touch of softening and left the rest soft. On a male model I think HDR would work much better because guys like to look a bit rough and for them a porous skin could look very butch. Nice work and I appreciate you showing us how it worked!
I find both versions over processed for a portrait. Not enough detail on the left, too much on the right.

For a close-up portrait, I much prefer the pre-HDR. Nice image to show the differences.
Great demonstration – I like HDRI for landscapes but in this case I think I prefer the original image. Thanks for posting!
