Description
Yesterday afternoon I was walking around my property when I came upon this new-born fawn. It was very unsteady on it's legs so I think it was just a day or so old.
It was bedded down by a tree and remained quite still as I took some photos.
Eventually it did stand up but still did not attempt to run. After about 15 minutes, I decided I should go so the mother could retrieve her baby. However, I did check up on the fawn every few hours and at midnight, it was still where I had left it. I had expected the mother would have returned by then.
This morning I checked again and the fawn was no where to be found. Since today is Mother's Day, I am determined to believe the mother deer had indeed retrieved her baby because that is what mothers do, lol.

Wonderful capture! ....and so kind of you to check up on the youngster. I'm sure mom was keeping an eye out and playing it safe as you probably picked up your scent in the area. But don't you wish you could have one like this that stayed that size? So cute!
