Description
Who would have ever thought that dirt could be so fascinating?
Captured 4/28/13, early morning, next to the freeway about a mile from home.
Get up close and personal with a ZOOM.
To take advantage of the multimillion dollar widening project currently going on with our local portion of the I-5 Freeway, I walked over to the site last Saturday when no one was working, and snapped some pics of the interesting terrain left by the tractors and other heavy equipment. This particular area is next to an on ramp that is closed Monday to Friday due to construction.
Along with what you see here, homes and businesses adjacent to the project are also being demolished/razed, including that of my favorite auto mechanic. I don't know where he's gone. It's like no man's land out there.
Anyway, I thought the dirt effects were rather unique. The contrast was enhanced for this display. And, I'm glad I shot the pics when I did because I drove by the area yesterday and noticed that the terrain had since been smoothed out.
Adios, and have a nice day.

Excellent capture here, gorgeous pattern and textures indeed! Well done!
Beautiful done!!!
I always find these patterns mesmerizing, which likely says something odd about me...What a huge spread of wafflage across the dirt, Harry; the only thing that would be better is if it had snow in the depressions, but I won't hold my breath for that given the location! Excellent reportage, I wonder what they're preparing the land for?
do make a wonderful textures. Sure would not like that machine to run over my foot
Great idea to take the chance to get these cool captures, Harry
Now that's cool and unusual. It's now time to plant our seeds.:-) Great find!:-)
That is the perfect title for this set of pics. Well seen!
Fantastic captures ... wonderfully done !!!
you sure make me smile with your subjects you find, isn't great to look through the world with a lens you see so many things so many miss.
The relentless onslaught of the automobile goes on and another slice of the Country is covered in Concrete! Same here, and its very sad.. One day, many generations down the line, out kids, kids, kids kids will curse us.. Its sad but very very true and no-one cares.. Your shots are interesting though Harry, so please don't think I'm having a go at you personally.. Rob
