Description
Today we arrived at Wahweap Campground on the banks of Lake Powell near Page Arizona.
We have viewed the most fantastic light changes today as the afternoon slipped toward sundown.
Other than cropping, this photo is untouched. The sun is setting behind me. The clouds first appeared grey, then yellow, then red as the sun set.
I've never been so inspired sitting in a campground in my life! We were only going to stay two nights here but are going to up that to five tomorrow morning:)
Please ZOOM.

Nothing is better than an Arizona sunset.
Amazing shot again my friend, beautiful place and you captured ii amazingly!
Oooh! Before I go any further, I'll have to say that the title reminded me of the movie of the same name. THIS photo is a whole lot better. The movie ("based on" the Travis Walton UFO abduction account) didn't suck, and it showed that grumpy advanced extraterrestrials going around abducting people could really do with picking up some housekeeping skills...but anyway...that's neither here nor there. I like this Fire in the Sky better than I like that "FIre in the Sky". This has wonderful intensity, drama, color, and it's kinda like watching a really slow ballet (well, clouds don't move that slowly, but photographed clouds, captured mid-drift have that weird quality of implying drift, while the image is itself, static. And now that I've gone off on one of my UFO rambles, pull it back in and just shut up and full zoom on this photo again.
Almost unbelievable! Breathtaking in its beauty.
Another beautiful shot, Bill. I love desert sunsets. Be sure to go to Antelope Canyon while you're in Page. Take the photographers' tour with Chief Tsosie Tours. http://2dphotography.smugmug.com/Travel/Antelope-Canyon-2009/10732462_XftSZb#!i=643774602&k=fRtXJwQ
This is just fantastic... I would stay another few days myself if I could watch something like that in awe.......... Looks unbelieveable........... Def a fav with me........ 10 stars too...***** Hugs Susan~
impressive cloud lighting
Amazing sky. I find myself wishing I could see more of the foreground! I bet the original (before compression for this site) is amazing.
Very beautiful sky Great capture
Great capture of this beautiful sky Bill!
This is really spectacular Bill. It reminds me one particular sunset I witnessed in Namibia! Marvelous.
Excellent capture Bill! Glad to see you getting a low light photo with the camera. Be nice not have to process each one. Looks like you could have shot a slower shutter speed and ISO. I am curious to hear if you can get a sky like this with little or no noise in the RAW file. Saw a great comparison with the Mark 3 and the Nikon 800E. Rumor has it Canon will come out with a 40 mp sensor soon for the next generation Mark 3!
Astonishing beautiful. WOW! no wonder you will stay longer.
What an amazing sight, I too can see why you are staying longer. xx
I was enamored with Lake Powell myself. truly a beautiful landscape/sky

Woooooooooooooow..... OK, that does it..... I'm quitting tomorrow, and getting a motorhome...... Well, maybe not, but I can dream.... :-D Spectacular capture, Bill!

Fantastic capture Bill. The sky is amazing.
love this and love that you didn't do any post work. Great photo!
What is there not to like about this dramatic scene - I am not surprised - both of you wanting to extend the stay there! it would make an interesting BG for a myriad of movies or for the Opera by Richard Wagner's: 'Lohengrin" ... marvellous Bill, BB
Jaw droppingly impressive! What can you say mate.. Natures amazes yet again,... Excellent shot.. Rob
