Description
Bufo bufo.
The lawn is strewn with hunting toads at night.
A few nights ago Rosie licked one and spent an hour trying to rid her mouth of the disgusting taste, so now she leaves them alone!
These little people are too young to breed yet, and won't reach maturity till they are five or six.

Superb capture Andrea. God Bless.
Well he certainly looks ready for action. Excellent catch. I can imagine poor Rosie trying to get rid of the taste. Good thing she's a quick learner.
That is a beautiful eye and a great shot Andrea.
cool shot !
Klasse shot,like it a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a pretty boy i like his pose.
Excellent capture Andrea
What a masculine pose! I bet he's been working out!
of toad hall fame perhaps, toot toot
Very cool capture Andrea No Prince here. Poor Rosie, I'm glad she learned early on not to kiss a toad or frog -
ah, he/she looks hungry after long winter.. great capture!
Excellent. Good job they are not the opiate variety, Rosie would have spent the evening stoned :)
Ewww, whatever possessed her to try licking him? You have more wildlife in your garden than I can possibly imagine!
King of all he surveys! What a great capture
You need to get rid of these as they are deadly to dogs! Even a lick can be fatal! - We have them all over Florida too here in the US and I know of many dogs that have died or suffered agonizing seizures. I love your dogs and will be very worried now since I found out they are over there too! BB or pellet guns are a good way to bring them down if they havn't outlawed those too over there. Far safer than poison...
Our toads are not a threat...they are a different species to yours!
Beautiful
Great closeup view...
OH isnt he just a beauty :-))) I love toads :) Nope no poisonous toads here either.
B E A U T Y
He is flexing his muscles.... Aloha
I like the pose of both toads and two excellent photos!
AND THE PRINCE?
I wonder what your dogs do to them. now i know.
A very good picture of this inhabitant of your yard and garden, but I wouldn't want to lick one.
Looks like a scifi monster :)))
All I can say is I am glad they are NOT in my garden. Not as bad as I was but not keen!!!
Well now, here's a handsome fellow or perhaps it a lovely lass. I do like toads, and frogs, and snakes .. Our northern toads are not a threat to our dogs either. They all have tasted toad, and choose to leave them alone because of the foul taste which is I believe very mildly toxic, makes the dogs foam a bit at the mouth.
I feel sorry for Rosie they are pretty foul tasting, ( don't ask ).
Pups gotta try everything once! :P I'm glad it was only disgusting and didn't make her sick. A terrific shot of this little guy! :)
