Well, who would have guessed that! I had to stop using dope in school when drugs became fashionable.. But I have made many coloured tissue-paper constructions myself with this technique.

One of the finest fighter aircaft of WW2 in my mind. Wonderful shot Bill :)

I understand it was quite common to use doped linen with a wooden frame underneath to keep the planes light as well as being cheap to produce - not much use against flack and bullets though! Great shot Bill!

Nice shot, Bill. It shows the way the linen was attached to the framework. Light, and quick and easy to repair. The forshortened view makes this a very interesting and unusual image. Keep up the good work! :-)

Stellar POV of this WWII aircraft, Bill. I thought it might have been a Spitfire at first. The doped linen reminds me of my model aeroplane construction days when I was a youngster.

The true hero of the battle of Britain, the spit took the honours, when in reality the hurry was the true champ. Takes me back to my days in the RAF when the historic aircraft would use our airfield. Has more character than a Panavia Tornado or Mirage fighter :}

Unlike the Spitfire, this made it very tough and easily reparable.. Great aircraft, super POV Bill! Like this, thanks for posting it.. Rob

Nice idea for a close up.... I'll have to find myself a hurricane model some day and try to "bump" map it like that.
