Description
OK, this one may be controversial.
Ever heard the phrase "Rose-colored glasses?" It refers to someone who's optimism filters and colors and skews their perception of reality based on their belief that things are and will turn out well. I think the same can be said of religious beliefs.
Here I show glasses with symbols representing some of the more basic categories of belief. From left to right:
Atheist (here representing non-religion),
Taoist (here representing "eastern" religions),
Jewish,
Pagan (here representing so called "primitive" or natural religions), and
Christian (OK, since I also have Jewish I have 2 representing "western" religions; but then I guess I am showing my bias due to my living in the "western" region of the world).
I identify as Agnostic (a belief not represented here but surely just as possible a source of limited viewing). As an Agnostic (a belief that could be interpreted as never accepting OR rejecting any belief), this is the way my belief filters and colors and skews my perception of other beliefs. As such, I think each belief can provide a piece of the puzzle of figuring out how reality really works...

Interesting concepts... But the question remains the same: What is truth? What is reality? I believe each belief system(s) gives only a sliver of the whole but enough to placate the humanity. Religion is man's attempt to tell and define God/Universe to the rest of the universe as well as himself... And that's another dialog worth exploring after death... :)
terrific image and so so true - ThunderStone expressed my view on religion perfectly!
Well said, ThunderStone! Fantastic image! Corrie
Interesting notion. I rather think that these days you could add a whole new religion - Science. There are, sadly, many who seem to be as fanatical in their belief in science as some religious fundamentalists. Personally, I only believe what can be repeatedly demonstrated - which makes me atheist - but the fanatics pillory and shout down anyone who holds contrary views or opinions which, in my book, is not science. As a scientist, I am willing to concede my opinion may be wrong, especially if evidence is presented against it. Yes, this could be controversial. :-)
