Description
Happy Birthday Mike. Maybe a day early.
This is an adult wood stork and they are on the "almost" endangered list. Yesterday we saw three at the Green Cay Wildlife Refuge. Very low on the cute meter. They are about 40 inches (102cm) tall and with an impressive wing span of 61 inches (155cm). They do have black flight feathers on the wing tips and tail. The hunchback pose is the normal pose for these huge birds.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

very beautiful bird and very sharp focus
Gorgeous in the air...maybe not so much on the ground. Nice shot of this one.
Very cool capture and I thank you very much for the dedication of course now I have Crosby, Stills, Nash singing in my head
You were right up close to this big fellow, Dana; excellent shot with great clarity of detail. I think they're quite handsome myself!
WOW....Very impressive bird Dana, high quality capture indeed! Loved it!
What a handsome bird! I love stoop-shouldered birds. Have you noticed that they're generally bald? I love the crisp details, especially around the head and neck area. This is a marvel of a photograph, and a great place for me to start catching up on your gallery. I've been away far too long! This is a great, up-close-and-personal shot. I happen to like the sorts of birds that aren't considered "pretty"...these guys, vultures, and hornbills are extremely handsome creatures. So elegant, and this bird here epitomizes elegance. Wonderfully done.
wonderful shot of this bird
Who's a pretty boy then!

Can't say I ever saw one of these Storks as one can understand why they might be going extinct considering all the babies they have delivered throughout time....(giggles).. Happy Birthday Mike!!!!
