Description
Recently we had the closest to a REAL snowstorm in over a year. That it resulted in under 6 inches of snow was less interesting to me than the fact that I finally got to built stuff with snow!
Driving home from work in the dark on unplowed country roads on a Friday night wasn't so much fun, but that's incidental to BUILDING STUFF WITH SNOW.
Yes, I get kind of obsessed.
My housemate said I was manic. She also said she'd never seen me so happy, so there you go.
Anyway, I used a plastic tote and a snow shovel, and stripped a major portion of my yard of the snow, will likely have sore muscles for days, but this was the result.
And it was totally worth it and more, too.
Now if only we get about 4 more inches of show and I'll be able to add to it, too!

wow you doing wonderful
Happy New Year! Really nicely done! 5
What fun.......a kid at heart.
Very cool idea & execution - I applaud your creativity, your dedication & your industriousness. And Happy New Year!
very cool snow modeling. we had snow on the 25th but the ground was too warm for it to build up
Cool! Um, cold.
WAY cool! I'm glad you got enough snow to start building ... and really glad you took a picture for us! :D
That's great. Anytime I see sculpture in snow, I have to stop and look. It's one of my favorite temporary mediums.
LOL great stuff.
This is great! It has me thinking about The City on the Edge of Forever with wood siding in the background. Needless to say, that's a good thing. I really like your hands-on approach to art: either building things or stacking things as well as rendering/digi-painting them. This looks like quite a bit of fun and it looks like you got more snow than we did. I think we got...um...maybe 3 inches...spread out over a few days. Ah, but we got ice...we got crunchy grass, as only you can get in Chicago. Oh, how fun! I love this shot. Feel free to build more of these.
Looks pretty solid and large, may last a good while! I bet you smile real big every time you look at it. ;) Have a safe and happy New Year!
Wonderful sculpted snow scene!!
You had to be frozen stiff working in the snow...Brrrrrrr...lol Kewl work! Happy New Year! Aloha
This is absolutely beyond cool, Mike! I have to say you're braver man than I! We've got about 4 inches the stuff on the ground here, and if I could find a way to ship you some I would! LOL! Hope you have an awesome 2013 my friend! Looking forward to more of your great renders, and photos..... And stacked rocks! LOL
Quite a contrast to your stone sculptures,Mike. This snow construction is so transitory as compared to seeming eternity of the latter. Hope your muscles didn't get too sure.
It's all interesting, but I like the view from the road the best.
that is so funny you must really entertain your neighbors.
