My Christmas Story
When my son was about 5, we walked down the street to join a bunch of other kids to see Santa arrive in a big, red fire truck. This particular evening was one of those clear, bright and cold winter nights. The excitement was contagious; the kids were beside themselves with excitement. Finally, we heard the siren and there he was---Santa himself. Well, not really, and I had to explain that to Jordan since it was Christmas Eve and he already knew Santa was making his rounds. I managed to convince him that Santa had a LOT of helpers who stood in for him when he couldn’t be there. That seemed to satisfy him and the candy and little truck he got sure didn’t hurt!!
As we started to walk back up the street, a shooting star zoomed across the sky. Jordan saw it and just KNEW it was Santa and his reindeer. He was beside himself with sheer joy and wonder, his eyes wide as could be with that pure happiness little kids still have. He kept watching; we even had to sit outside when we got home in the hopes we might see Santa one more time. Of course, we didn’t, but that didn’t matter.
Jordan saw Santa that night, his 5 year old self couldn’t have been anymore excited and thrilled. It’s my most favorite Christmas story and I tell it every year. Now, at the ripe old age of 33, he still remembers that night and loves hearing about it.
May your holiday be that magic and may you look up at the winter sky and see your own miracle!!

I love these kind of stories that will last a life time. Moments to treasure. Merry Christmas... Aloha
Marvellous! Have a great time with your family!
Wonderful Christmas story, Marilyn; hope your holidays are bright and cheerful!
I love the tradition of reading this wonderful story in your gallery every year. (And isn't it fun that we've known each other so long we're forming traditions?) :) It's a lovely story. I'll look forward to hearing it again next year!
How wonderful that you share such a special memory. I hope you have many more memorable Christmases. Thank you for sharing the magic. :) Merry Christmas
And how do you know it wasn't Santa? A wonderful story. Wishing you all the blessings of the season, Marilyn.
wow that some story and a good one. thanks for shareing
I can easily see this as a short film/video production as well as a great story. The good thing is that you have so many more favorable holidays coming up (and a new camera to photograph them with.) I like your writing style quite a lot: it's got an easygoing cadence, like a casual conversation, full of the little pauses and shifts in facial expression, like you're sitting right there, telling it. This is a marvel. I like the yearly tradition: it ranks up there for me, with the original Grinch Who Stole Christmas which always inspires me to sing along! I'll refrain from singing now, however.
