Description
Waiting for the sun to rise while on my 3rd floor balcony at the Trung Ngyen Hotel in Chau Doc I noticed an unusual number of TV antennas. Chau Doc is known for its fish and fish sauce, but what I didn't know is that the Tan Chau District around Chau Doc is famous all over southern Vietnam for its traditional industry, silk making. The area is known for its wealth, which is apparent in the proliferation of TV antennas and the widespread ownership of luxury goods such as electrical appliances.

An interesting photo... looks almost military in silhouette, and the forst of aerials is quite fascinating.. the first thing I noticed, then the fab sky colour!
This is super! I love the fact that all of the antennas seem to be pointing in the same direction, as if giving visual navigation instructions to local birds or something. The color of the sky is wonderful, moody, and dramatic and those silhouettes are quite a marvel and deliciously retro, if seen with the eyes of a Chicagoan who has lived through the recent demise of areal antennas and the ascent of the ubiquitous dish. I like this much better: antennas like these are always convenient for local birds, which makes for added interest in such a view. THIS is well seen and well presented. I like it immensely.
Geeee they sure must LOVE their TV!
Fantastic colors and silhouettes. Superb shot!
i just imagined choppers coming in from the horizon, the big airbattleships and reduce the city to ashes.i guess i smoke too much pot lol.
Great capture that's a lot of antennas..
Interesting shot! It appears that most yagi antennas are pointing at the same source but there are some aimed at another, so I'm guessing they have only two channels but perhaps a third. Soon, as Chip has alluded to, they will be replaced by dishes and people will come to live in front of their TVs. I cancelled my cable about five years ago and I seem to have time to do many other things instead.
Very beautiful capture.
Beautiful shot!!!
Fantastic colors and silhouettes agree erland
Super Foto und Beleuchtung!!! Warum haben die aber keine Satelitenschüsseln :-)
Very cool and interesting shot I, too, noticed the sameness of the antenna directions

Splendid shot.
Why no dishes? Until recently they couldn't afford TV. They are probably at the same stage thee West was 40 years ago. The antennas are probably a status symbol also!
Very beautiful sunset and shot!

I want to see what all those arrows are pointing toward! There must be something special off to the left. :P
