Description
The young prince was quite the gambler and has had a long winning streak. The young hot shot from the states thought he was invincible as well and went up against the prince at the gambling tables. At first, it looked like the street smart kid from the states might best the prince. But as the evening wore on, the prince prevailed and even wound up winning the kid's shirt!
The next day, as the prince was walking around his courtyard, much to his surprise, he encountered the young american who was waiting in the doorway of one of the palace courtyard entryways. He had his hand out in a most demeaning gesture and begged the prince to give him some of his losings back so he could at least get back home.
The prince was of a mind to teach this young lad a lesson he would never forget, but in the end, he felt compassion for the youngster and purchased a ticket home for him. As a further gesture of his largesse, the prince wined and dined the dude while he was waiting for his plane to depart, and then gave him a nice ride to the airport in one of the official palace limosines.
You can be sure the kid from the states always remembered this trip. Perhaps he learned more than he realized?
Epilogue: Many years later, there was a war in the countries surrounding the prince's kingdom. The war came into his country and a large portion of the infrastructure was damaged or destroyed. When the war was over, the prince found his country was bankrupt and he was unable to find any financing to rebuild it. He was on the verge of despair, when one morning, while walking in the courtyard of his palace, who should he encounter but that smart alec, streetsmart kid he had beaten gambling years before. Much to his surprise, the kid did learn his lesson and became a world class banker. Through the largess of the kid, the prince obtained enough financing to rebuild his country and before long was able to repay all his loans to the kid. Funny how life deals you strange hands sometimes!

yeah a strong message here. on one hand the samaritan theme,and i just find it most sad that in this world such things dont happen or lets say dont happen often enough. there could be enough for each and everyone just if..........
