Description
About 3-1/2 years ago, Sig was up here for a visit and we drove across the North Cascades Highway. Our intention was to drive east across the mountains, stop in a small town called Winthrop, and then turn around and come back by the same route. We planned to stop at every view point and pullout on the right-hand side of the road, both going over and coming back. An avalanche closed the road while we were in Winthrop. We had to go home by a different route, and Sig never got to see what was on the other side of the road!
Diablo Lake is one of the most beautiful stops along the North Cascade Highway, my friend. I guess you'll just have to come back! :)

THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES TARA! This is beautiful, the picture and the thought Tara. I am sorry I didn't see this earlier. Thank you very much. I will explain the delay and reason why I haven't seen this before. I remember the trip very well - and the avalanche and us talking about what could have happened if we had been there when it came down. I may not have seen what was on the other side of the road, but I got to see Leavenworth. Too bad it was so late, or we could have stopped and checked if the food they served there was as German as the look of the town.
