It's hard to believe, but I haven't posted a single picture of one of the highlights of our trip to Arizona in the spring of 2011. We went to Montezuma Castle near Rimrock on a gorgeous day in April, and that entire file of images has just been sitting on my computer all this time, untouched. I guess I got distracted by the rest of the thousands of shots I took on that trip! :P
Claude and Andrew jogged my memory, so if you don't want to look at pictures that are nearly two years old, you can blame them! LOL!
This is a cactus that was growing next to the visitor center. When you live in a place that gets a lot of rain, any cactus plant is exotic!! I love the look of these things, but wasn't even tempted to touch. :)

I was there in May 2011 and probably saw this cactus, nice shot and I am looking forward to seeing Montezuma's Castle again.

I grew up in Arizona, and these things were everywhere and I think half of em got me at one time or another. Nasty things, they are, but you sure make them look pretty!!

I like a good cactus. I'll touch one of these over the little ones that are actually native to Chicago...yep...we got native cactus here! It's the small kind with bristles that really annoy you! THESE spines look big enough to avoid, and...well...maybe you can touch between them, or touch the spines (palm parallel to the axis of each spine, and NOT the business ends) but only an oddball-cactus-toucher would attempt that. This is super! I love it. Such a wonderfully, succulent plant!
